LET’S TALK ABOUT PAINT
CHOOSING A PAINT
Choosing a house paint can be overwhelming. For something seemingly easy there’s a lot of complexity and technology that goes into modern paints. Today’s paints aren’t one size fits all – there’s different finishes, coverage, and price points available – so it’s about finding a paint that fits your needs and budget. Fortunately, it’s our job to know paints and our paint experts can help you find the perfect paint for your home.
Here are some things to consider when choosing house paint:
-
- Coverage – Paints have different opacity. Paints that are more opaque will require fewer coats to cover your walls.
- Durability – Durability varies by paint finish, meaning that certain paints will resist fading and chipping more than others.
- Environmental impact – Some paints are more environmentally friendly than others.
-
- Kitchen – Durable and easy to clean – High Gloss or Semi-Gloss
- Family Room – Easy to clean for high traffic areas – Satin
- Dining Room – Clean & smooth for low traffic – Eggshell
- Bedroom – High pigment, high coverage for low traffic – Flat or Matte
-
- Price: – Prices for paints vary depending on the brand, line, type, and finish.
- Finish: – House paints come in a variety of finishes, from gloss, semi-gloss, satin, eggshell, flat, and matte. The finish you choose will affect the look and durability of your paint and there’s some paint finishes that are better suited to different rooms of your home.
When it comes to choosing a house paint, it’s important to consider what you want, what the space needs and your budget for the project. If you’re not sure what to choose, it’s always a good idea to talk to one of our paint experts.
